Bible Study – The Birth of Jesus

  • Luke 1:27-38 – Mary visit
    • Mary was a virgin, important that she was a virgin, she did not remain a virgin indefinitely.
    • Mark 6:3 – shows that she at least had seven other children.
    • Mary was a virgin at the point of giving birth to Jesus Christ.
    • Proverbs 3:1-4
    • The angel tells her that she will give birth to Jesus all while a virgin:
    • He shall be great.
    • Son of the Most High
    • He will be given the throne of His Father David
    • He will reign over the house of Jacob forever.
    • His Kingdom will never end.

    • 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
    • Matthew 1:20
    • We read in Genesis 1, that everything reproduces after it’s own kind.
    • 1 Corinthians 15:45
    • Jesus had to be of a different seed, a different kind.
  • Shepherds – Matthew 1:18-25 and Luke 2:4-20
    • Luke 2:4-20
    • Mary gave birth in Bethlehem while they were going to pay taxes.
    • here then came a multitude of heavenly hosts singing praises.

    • Mary kept these things and pondered them referring to all that was told to her by the angels, Elizabeth, and Shepherds.
    • What do we ponder because we have Jesus every day with us?
    • Matthew 1:18-25
    • Isaiah 7:14 fulfilled.
    • Verse 25 – Jesus was her firstborn, this was noted by Matthew also because it was known Mary had other children.
  • Wisemen – Matthew 2:1-12
    • We also read the beginning in verse 13 of where the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph about needing to flee to Egypt because Herod would want to kill Jesus.
