John 6:30-35

  • They are still seeking a sign.
  • Manna = food provided by God for Israelites in wilderness.
    • Bread from Heave
      • Exodus 16:14
      • Numbers 11:7-9
      • Psalm 105:40
      • Psalm 78:24
  • Exodus 16:15 they associated Manna with the work of Moses, but they believed the Messiah would bring the real Manna. (John 6:32-33)
  • John 6:35 (I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE)
  • Bread represents being filled and continually filled.
  • We should not want the bread of this world (lust of flesh, pride of life, etc.) we should want the true bread that is only through Jesus Christ!
    • If you truly are filled with Him, you would not hunger for something artificial.

John 6:36-40

  • They have seen Christ and His works up to this point and still do not believe.
    • John 12:48
  • We have to truly seek God. If we truly seek Him, He will not cast Him out.
    • Deut. 4:29
    • 2 Chr. 7:14
    • Jer. 29:13
    • Luke 11:9
  • Jesus does the will of the Father.
    • John 7:29
  • If we believe in Him, we will have eternal life.

John 6:41-51

  • Jews complain but don’t acknowledge the fact of virgin birth.
  • The Holy Spirit draws us to salvation – spiritual attraction.
    • Jer. 31:3
    • Song 1:4
  • Divine instruction = Holy Spirit
    • 1 Cor. 2:12-13
  • Believe on Jesus results in everlasting life.
  • Jesus is the Bread of Life. Be filled with His bread and not the bread of the world.
    • John 8:51
  • Jesus talks spiritual, Jews look at human standards.
  • No unity among the Jews, Devil like seeing people argue scripture.
