Many of us will be taking time in the next two weeks to recognize the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. While many Christian Churches get caught up with pagan Easter Egg Hunts, I want to encourage you to take two hours of your time and watch a movie. If you are a pastor, maybe instead of hold an Easter Egg Hunt your congregation can watch a movie that is packed full of truth.
I don’t usually write posts recommending movies or documentaries. However, this documentary was one of the most influential ones I have watched this year, and I know many others have been impacted by this film. I highly encourage every professing Christian to watch the documentary American Gospel: Christ Crucified. The Gospel message of “Christ crucified” has always been offensive. In our culture it is common for preachers to soften the offense of the cross, and the attributes of God that are displayed in the person and work of Jesus Christ. “American Gospel: Christ Crucified” explores how the paths of post-modernism and progressive Christianity lead to a different gospel, and a god created in our own image. “But we preach Christ Crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness…” (1 Cor. 1:23)
